Photonics NI

Funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and delivered by Digital Catapult as part of the Smart Nano NI Consortium.

Discover how photonics – the science and technology of light – can help optimise business performance in the manufacturing, construction, agritech, pharmaceuticals and medical devices sectors.

Digital Catapult, the UK authority on advanced digital technology, is the only organisation in Northern Ireland offering training for industry in photonics – the science and technology of light.

Photonics covers a wide array of exciting technologies which can enhance industrial processes such as quality control, material processing, and asset monitoring.

While Northern Ireland has unique strengths in the research, commercialisation and manufacturing of photonic technologies, the wider adoption of those technologies in industry presents significant opportunities for business here.

Digital Catapult is currently seeking up to ten Northern Ireland companies working in either manufacturing, construction, agritech, or pharmaceuticals and medical devices to explore how photonics can help their businesses.

Delivered as part of the Smart Nano NI consortium, FutureScope Photonics NI is a nine-week series of practical workshops to showcase the use of photonic technologies within industry. This will cover light-based technologies such as advanced imaging and sensing techniques, illustrating their potential for greatly enhancing productivity.

Applications close at 23:59 on Sunday 26 March.
